A Few of my Favorite People
There‘s a lot to love about my previous employer FreshBooks. I want to share a little about some of the people I loved the most.

The top 3 engineering leaders I worked with at FreshBooks every day are Andrea Corey, Alex Vermeulen, and Alida Abzhanova. I have never had better engineering partners than these three women.
Over in Design, I had a great collaborator in design manager Alison Munn Garcia and great design partners in Sally Harrison, Huda Tariq, and Caitlin 👩🏼💻 O’Bunny.
Two terrific product managers from my team of four are Clare Curtis and Katie Paribok: Both astounding leaders and inspiring builders who are progressing in their rapidly accelerating careers.
Of my five Product Director peers, two who made a lasting impression on me are Pearl Chen and Teri Vlassopoulos. They supply Product at FreshBooks with a disproportionate measure of wisdom, vision, and leadership.
Some of these folks have since moved on to new jobs, but there was a moment at FreshBooks where the majority of my immediate colleagues were female.
People who look like me were in the minority. In this respect, the team looked to me a bit more like how the world looks — at least moreso than any other team I’ve been a part of.
The work there is not done on diversity, equity and inclusion — not by a long shot. There’s a long way to go, and I have a lot to learn about being a good ally and leader.
Being an ally is not enough. But today I wanted to acknowledge the work these women and their colleagues have done and how inspiring it is to see some real progress in the world.
Thank you!
